Status: Part-time/On-Call

Salary: $16.28/hr.

Hours: Variable (shift start times can vary from 5 am to 11 pm, shift lengths from 4 to 10 hours)

*schedules are released on a weekly basis with on-call opportunities available for more hours*

About this role:

This position serves to bundle, stack, insert, and tie newspaper, advertising, and commercial products as well as potentially generate various production and mailing reports.

What you'll do:

Operate Post Press machinery according to Packaging Assistant classification PA1–PA2 qualification as defined by the Post Press labor contract which may include pallet jacks, insert feeders, portable tying machines, inline inserting stackers, and tying machines, report generating software, etc.

As qualified and designated by classification PA1-PA2:

• Lift and jog advertising, editorial, and commercial preprinted inserts for individuals who are feeding a hopper on an inserting, binding, or mailing machine
• Restack pallets of preprinted products that have been broken up during transportation
• Move printed products from place to place on plant production floor utilizing rolling carts
• Stack down, jog, bundle, tie and palletize printed newspaper, advertising, editorial, and commercial products delivered off press to stacker or off inserting, binding, or mailing machines
• Separate, bundle, tie, and palletize printed products that are printed two-up
• Separate bundles of advertising inserts for insertion, ensuring folds face same direction
• Jog inserts, making sure they line up for placement into insert hopper(s)
• Provide continuous supply of preprinted inserts to two or more inserting hoppers without letting the hoppers run out of inserts
• Rapidly repair missed, multiple, and misplaced insertions to minimize machine downtime
• Assist in training fellow packaging assistants in all aspects of assigned duties
• Other duties as assigned
